3 Marketing To-Do's You Should Have on Your Calendar in January

Starting January first on the right foot can set the pace for a successful and profitable year. Some tasks may have to wait, but here are three important things you should have on your calendar to accomplish in January:

1. Improve Your SEO

Did you know that 70 percent of the links searchers click on are organic, not paid? Are you on top of your SEO, or is it the red-headed stepchild in your business? Unfortunately, SEO is not all about keywords (although using relevant terms is the number one factor in search ranking). Other factors include social media mentions, click-through rate, and number of backlinks.

To Do: Make an appointment with an SEO expert and get SEO advice based on your website analytics.

2. Upgrade Your Online Marketing

What worked and didn’t work for your business in 2014 when it came to online marketing? As we told you a few weeks ago, 2015 will be all about content, mobilization, and social media. Start the new year off right by stepping out of your comfort zone and testing some new online marketing methods.

To Do: Develop a mobile app, add more content, and boost your social media presence with video.

3. Outsource

You really can’t do it all, especially when you’re trying to grow a small business. Make a list of what resources you have and what can be outsourced. Then make it a point to outsource something right away.

To Do: Unless you’re a tech wiz, handing most of your website technical tasks over to an independent contractor can relieve you of a lot of stress. Or consider outsourcing social media or another task that just doesn't make it on your daily to-do list. 

It’s always a good idea to push yourself at the beginning of the year, when your optimism and energy are at their highest. Take a leap in January and you’ll soon see the rewards you deserve.
